Dr. Patel grew up in the Bay Area and received his undergraduate degree with High Honors from the University of California, Berkeley followed by a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of California, San Diego. He performed his residency in Ophthalmology at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee where he was bestowed with the honor of Chief Resident. He then spent an additional year to further his ophthalmic training with a Fellowship in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery at the prestigious New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in Manhattan. Excited to move back home, Dr. Patel returned to the Bay Area and joined Turner Eye Institute.

Dr. Patel specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the cornea, anterior segment, and lens. He particularly enjoys cataract/intraocular lens surgery, refractive procedures (including LASIK and PRK), keratoconus treatments and corneal transplantation including cutting edge techniques such as partial thickness transplants.

Dr. Patel is a member of numerous medical associations including the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), and The Cornea Society.

Geoffrey Rodriguez, M.D.

Geoffrey Rodriguez, M.D.

Dr. Rodriguez is a fellowship-trained glaucoma and cataract surgeon. He specializes in the evaluation and management of glaucoma, including the latest medical, laser, and surgical therapies. He provides a full spectrum of cutting-edge Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgeries (MIGS) as well as traditional glaucoma surgeries. He also performs cataract and intraocular lens surgery and is up-to-date with the newest technology, including astigmatism-correcting and presbyopia-correcting lenses.

A native of Massachusetts, Dr. Rodriguez graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Biology from Williams College. He attended the Pearlman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, where he received his Doctorate of Medicine. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. Following his residency, he received specialized training in glaucoma at Tufts University – New England Eye Center and Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston.

Dr. Rodriguez is a member of the American Glaucoma Society and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Kathy Alcid, O. D.

Kathy Alcid, O. D.

Dr. Alcid is an optometrist serving the Bay Area. She received her B.S. in Biology at the University of California, Los Angeles and earned her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of California, Berkeley. Additionally, Dr. Alcid completed a residency in low vision at the Center for the Partially Sighted, where she was able to provide specialty care to patients of all ages.

Dr. Alcid manages and treats various eye conditions including double vision, dry eyes, and glaucoma. She is a member of the California Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.

When she is out of the office, Dr. Alcid enjoys cooking, going on hikes, and visiting new restaurants.

Christie Nguyen, O. D.

Christie Nguyen, O. D.

Dr. Nguyen received her Doctor of Optometry from University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry (UIWRSO). She received her Bachelor degree in Health Sciences from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She is certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease and glaucoma.

Dr. Nguyen completed her clinical rotations at the Viera VA Outpatient Clinic (Florida), Eye and Vision Care Clinic (Texas), and the Community Eye Clinic in Fort Worth, TX. After graduating from Optometry school, she moved back to her hometown of San Leandro where she currently resides and practices.

She is up to date with all the latest in Optometry technologies and strives to provide the best patient experience. In her free time she enjoys trying different foods, traveling and spending time with her family.
